This upper section of Rock Creek is a combination of runs, riffles and pools surrounded by agriculture at it's finest. This is a section of river that is completely surrounded by private ranches. Access is very limited, a float fishing trip is the best way to see this section of river. Once the canyon walls start to creep in on the river the scenery changes. Cliff walls towering 500+ feet above the river bed become more common. Sightings of Big Horn Sheep, Moose, Eagles, Sand Hill Cranes, Bears and even Mountain Lions are not uncommon. Rock Creek is truly one of Montana's best Blue Ribbon Trout Streams.
